Student Account Specialist - Generation Park
FUNCTION: Responsible for the daily functions related to the Campus Business Office and providing customer service to SJC students, parents and employees pertaining to students financial accounts.
Essential Job Functions:
- Cashiering functions related to processing loans, print cashier reports and closing cashier sessions.
- Analyzes and understands complex student financial records.
- Receives and processes all incoming departmental deposits and relate deposits to appropriate budgets.
- Code in third party and exemptions for students and process billing for the district office.
- Process all invoices for past due student accounts.
- Review, analyze and release holds on accounts.
- Maintain cashier log.
- Create and update functional spreadsheets, letters, and other records.
- Process scholarship stipends.
- Maintain and log the release of student’s checks and address any1098-T concerns.
Additional Job Functions:
- Assist students and employees with business office related inquiries.
- Reconcile student payment plans and update in Banner as needed.
- Filing and faxing.
- Process deposit tickets for the district office.
- Assist students or staff with any BankMobile questions.
- Answer incoming phone calls and operate a multiline phone.
- Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- General computerized accounting
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to interact and work well with members of other functional groups, customers and team members
- Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office
- Detail oriented, organized and self-started
- Ability to work well under pressure in order to meet deadlines
- Knowledge of general office practices and procedures
- Knowledge of accounting principles
- Skills in operating required office equipment such as: facsimile, photo copier, computer, printer, multi-line phone system
- Ability to operate 10-key adding machine by touch
- Minimum of 40 wpm
- Skill in making simple arithmetic calculations
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work beyond scheduled hours when required with limits to vacation scheduling due to registration and payment deadline dates
- Skills in proof reading and data entry
- Ability to complete work that is precise and includes few or no errors
- Knowledge of effective oral and written communication skills and business English with the ability to write in complete sentences using appropriate words, grammar, punctuation and spelling
- Ability to shift quickly between several tasks without loss of continuity
- Ability to safeguard sensitive or confidential information
- Ability to make rapid, accurate scanning movements with the eyes
- Ability to listen actively and demonstrate understanding
- Ability to fulfill requests or otherwise provide services, accurate information, or assistance in a courteous and timely manner

- Ability to cashier and handle up 40K in cash, checks and credit card transactions
Required Education:
- High school graduate or equivalent
Preferred Education:
- Associate of Applied Science in Accounting or related field
Required Experience:
- 2 years of cashiering
- Computerized accounting
- Strong customer service skills
Preferred Experience:
- Experience with Banner, TouchNet and BankMobile software
- Bilingual
Remote Work Opportunities:
- The duties of this position require a physical presence at the assigned on-site work location during unrestricted operations with very limited or no opportunity for remote work arrangements.
