Position Overview:
The Director of Access Control Technology is responsible for overseeing Northwood Ravin’s portfolio of electronic access control & surveillance technology in order to protect its team members, residents, assets, and facilities. This includes key management systems, physical security related devices, fire alarms, and managing in-house technician(s). The Director of Access Control Technology will coordinate with multiple teams on multiple projects, site contacts, liaise with vendors, and oversee administrative tasks related to billing and vendor setup.
Position Authority:
The Director of Access Control Technology has direct authority over Access Control Technician(s).
- Responsible for the day-to-day access control technology for the entire NWR portfolio which includes over 1,000 cameras and 10,000 electronic locks.

Proficient with the best hardware and software available for multi-family projects.

Understand integration capabilities between various access control systems when multiple system types are installed at a single location.

Access Network Video Recorders to ensure they are operational and review on-site activities.

Run daily operations from the office, including managing the service queue and prioritizing tasks based on the needs of the site.

Initiate communication with site contacts to gather relevant information for service calls.

Supervise in-house technicians, assign service calls, and manage their schedules.

Arrange for security vendors to address service calls when in-house technicians are unavailable.

Manage new vendor setup and billing processes for the department.

Manage licenses for various security systems, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.

Design security infrastructure systems, including access control and video security, in coordination with project development and construction teams.
- Create and maintain an equipment lifecycle plan, including audits, battery replacements, and end-of-life preparation.

Manage stock of parts for service and coordinate with vendors for quotes and walkthroughs.

Develop and maintain a training system to onboard new hires quickly, ensuring proficiency in using various security dashboards.

Handle administrative tasks such as timesheets, PTO requests and performance reviews for technician(s).
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Access Control and/or project management.
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience.

System design and blueprint review for access control and camera systems

Strong organizational and communication skills

Proficiency in using access control systems and software

Experience in vendor management and negotiation

Knowledge of security regulations and best practices

Knowledge of mechanical door hardware

Experienced in low voltage wiring

Must be able to stand & walk for extended periods (site audits)
