EXPERIENCE INDUSTRY MANAGEMENT'S RECREATION, PARKS & TOURISM ADMINISTRATION PART-TIME LECTURER POOL within the College of Agriculture, Food and Environmental Sciences at Cal Poly is seeking applications for a pool of part-time lecturers with positions available as determined by need during the 2024/25 academic year. Responsibilities may include teaching undergraduate courses in resort and lodging management; hospitality, conventions, & meeting management; special event planning; festival & event management, leadership & diverse groups; professionalism & customer experiences; experiential marketing; financing recreation, parks & tourism, and introduction to the experience industry.

Initial rank and salary for lecturer faculty are based on professional experience and educational background and are determined by the hiring department. Most new lecturers are hired at the Lecturer A or B rank. As of July 2023, the classification salary ranges for the respective ranks are:
Lecturer A: $5,007-$6,359
Lecturer B: $5,925-$12,594
Lecturer C: $6,500-$13,831
Lecturer D: $8,184-$14,487

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree required in Recreation, Parks, Leisure Studies or related field.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

M.S. in Recreation, Parks, Tourism or related field preferred. Experience in one or more of the following areas preferred:
hospitality management; event planning; convention management; experiential marketing; recreation leadership; risk & facility management; grants and resources development; environmental education; finance.

Preference will be given to those with experience in working with diverse populations and fostering a collaborative, supportive and inclusive environment. Preference will also be given to those with relevant work experience and those who bring professional capabilities.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS

The Experience Industry Management Department of the College of Agriculture, Food and Environmental Sciences offers a B.S. in Recreation, Parks, & Tourism Administration and an M.S. in Agriculture with a specialization in Recreation, Parks, and Tourism Management. The Experience Industry Management department, accredited by the Council on Accreditation of Parks, Recreation, Tourism and Related Professions offers areas of study in Event Planning and Management, Hospitality and Tourism Management, Sport Management, Outdoor, Adventure, and Resource Recreation, and Community Services Management.

The Experience Industry Management's vision is to promote healthy lifestyles, protect memorable places, and facilitate life-enhancing experiences.
