Full Job Description

Children's early experiences get built into the brain's architecture, so ensuring healthy, nurturing environments for infants and toddlers leads to healthy, thriving children and adolescents equipped to learn and fulfill their potential. That's why we are looking to employ qualified, caring, team-work-orientated people.

The Infant/Toddler Caretaker/Educator should possess high energy and the ability to handle the demands of babies and toddlers with different personalities and needs. As a minimum requirement, the applicant must have a current Child Development Associate (CDA) credential or FCCCP (FL equivalent) credential and have been trained or have equivalent coursework in early childhood development with a focus on infant and toddler development. Applicants willing to obtain the credential will also be considered.

Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent.

Must have a CDA or FCCPC
Must be willing to complete DCF state-required courses within eight months of hire.
Must be willing to work as a team with an assigned co-worker.
Must have excellent oral, written, and organizational skills.
Must have a great attitude and work well with others.
You must be sensitive to the needs of low-income people.

Essential Functions: (Duties and Responsibilities)

Completes all developmental assessments, screenings and observations of all children within 45 days of enrollment.
Develops and implements an individualized plan for each child.
Plans and implements with co-worker lesson plans with developmentally appropriate activities.
Provides supervision and a positive social and learning experience at all times including family-style mealtime.
Participates in all required training, on-going education to meet SUS policies and procedures, state and federal requirements.
Cleans classroom as needed during the day including all supplies/equipment, toys and furniture and ensures that all are put away at end of school day. Cleans and sanitizes bathroom daily. Mops and sweeps classroom and bathroom daily.
Participates with co-worker in the daily evaluation of the children's learning in all areas of development and records.
Makes at least two home visits per school year to encourage parent’s participation in their children’s education and assist with learning activities which can be conducted at home.
Prepares documentation and maintains records, including anecdotal notes concerning the child's attendance, individualized plans, progress, problems, and health and parent contacts.
Holds at least two conferences with parent concerning the progress and development of the child.
Refers children to appropriate program service areas, when necessary.
Interacts positively with the children during activities and throughout the day, in accordance Head Start Performance Standards.
Organizes classrooms into learning centers and work space according to the curriculum design and that meets all local, state and federal requirements.
Plans, implements and supervises a large group outdoor play activities and ensure safety of children while outdoors.
Records daily attendance of each child.

This position is hourly, full-time, full-year, and non-exempt. The hourly rate is $17.00 per hour with full benefits.
